Donderos’ Kitchen Tapas with Tim for April: Eastern Mediterranean
Since the first Thursday of April is Holy Thursday as well as the day before the start of Passover, Donderos’ will hold our fixed price tapas night on the second Thursday, April 9th.
This time we will feature small dishes, or “meze,” from the Eastern coasts of the Mediterranean. The evening will showcase specialties from Greece, Turkey and The Levant.
Tim will discuss the dishes and the traditions behind them as they are presented for your dining pleasure.
The fixed menu for the evening includes:
Fattoush (Lebanese/Syrian salad with toasted flat bread);
Spiced chicken hummus;
Fordhook limas prepared like Greek fava beans with dill;
A mixed platter of Taramasalata (Greek/Turkish caviar spread), Tomato Muhamara (Turkish dry tomato
and walnut dip), and Labneh (thick yogurt with garlic, olive oil and zataar);
Kibbeh (Lebanese/Syrian casserole of meat and pounded bulgur wheat stuffed with spiced meat and
walnuts);
Selection of regional cheeses and olives
Flat bread and baguette will be served with the various courses.
Bring the wine of your choice. In the Eastern Mediterranean, the traditional drink with meze is Arak, a licorice-containing alcohol, which is distinctly not the chef’s favorite. But throughout that region, dry rosé wines are popular, and go well with our dishes. Two go-to wines that will pair pretty well with our meal include Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

The dinner begins at 6:30 PM, at Donderos’ (590 No. Milledge)
Price $45 for a couple, $25 for a single. Corkage fee is $2 per couple.
Seating is limited. To assure a place, please register and place a deposit in advance. Refunds will be given for cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to the event.
