A little bit about Jackie...

Jackie Dorsey began painting in the fall of 2012 soon after moving to Athens, Georgia.  She was and continues to be inspired by the active and supportive art community in Athens.  She has taken classes from Kie Johnson, Jane Angelhart, Ted Nuttall, Abner Cope, and Lian Zhen and enjoys the companionship and mentoring of many fellow Athens-based artists.

She is a member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, Tallahassee Watercolor Society and South Carolina Watermedia Society.  Her first submitted work, Guias de Montanas, was shown at the 2013 members show of the Georgia Watercolor Society and won honorable mention.   For 2014 she showed with the 2014 Tri-State Juried Watermedia Show at Florida State Museum of Fine Arts, Southworks at OCAF, the Georgia Watercolor Society National Show where she was awarded the Strother Award for excellence, the South Carolina Watercolor Society Show at the Anderson Arts Center, and the Georgia Watercolor Society Show at the Abernathy Arts Center.  Non-juried shows include Watercolor in the Lives of Ten Women at Athens Academy, the OCAF Members Show, Two Story Coffee house and now Dondero’s for the month of February.

Some of her work can be found on her website: jackiedorseyart.com or her business Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/jackiedorseyart including samples of her commissioned portraiture.   Contact her by email for inquiries about commissioning a portrait (dorseyjohnson@gmail.com).

In addition to painting, Jackie is an avid hiker and traveler.  Her art is especially inspired from her travels to Peru and Aspen, Colorado.
