Tapas with Tim

Spanish and Latino Tapas with Tim -- Thursday November 6th

For Donderos’ prix-fixe tapas night on the first Thursday of November, the dishes will be from Spain and two Latin American countries. Join us for an assortment of delightful small international treats prepared for you by Tim and friends. You bring your wine of choice. Tim will introduce and discuss the dishes as they are served.

The specialties this evening include: Patatas Bravas (Spanish herb-roasted potatoes with a mild tomato salsa); Cochinita Pibil (Yucatan Mexican pork barbecued with citrus fruit juices, topped by a traditional red onion condiment); Spanish and Mexican cheeses; Elote (Mexican sautéed fresh corn with crema, chile sauce and cilantro); Gambas al Ajillo (Spanish style shrimp sautéed with white wine and garlic); Choripán (Argentinian sausage with bread, topped with Chimichurri sauce).

To Chef Tim’s taste certain wines also go well with this variety of dishes, particularly whites or rosés with some acidity, such as an Albariño or Rosé from Spain or the old standby Sauvignon Blanc – try one from Chile. Reds with go with everything except the shrimp. Try a Spanish Tempranillo or Garnacha, a Malbec from Argentina, or a Pinot Noir.

Or -- for a great wine pairing at a modest price, see Dave Wells at the Healthy Gourmet (1087 Baxter St, telephone 706 353-3107). Dave and Tim frequently teach cooking and wine classes at the Healthy Gourmet, and Dave selects wines to go with Tim’s style of cooking.
